Hi All. I have nearly finished my Delta printer build and received my Smoothieboard and lcd which look fantastic. Unfortunately, I had purchased the other hardware a month back, including the steppers since I had not yet decided on the smoothieboard. Problem is the company I purchased the Nema 17's from only had 3.17v 2.5A steppers which are obviously rated more than the drivers can handle and they cannot be returned since I have milled flats in the shafts
The steppers will be driven with a 24vdc supply. Question is how much performance will I loose dropping the current in the firmware down to say 1.8A so as to not destoy the onboard drivers? I understand the early rostocks did this but then changed to lower amperage motors.
Question 2 is if the above solution will not work, I have 2 x Leadshine M325 drivers but would need to purchase another M525 driver since they M325 is no longer made. If all the stepper motors are identical will there be a problem running different drive models on the different axis's.
Thanks for your help
